Shana Tova from Jews for Obama!
Announcing the world premiere of this moving pro-Obama video testimonial,
by Janette Hillis-Jaffe, an Orthodox Jew living in Cambridge,
Massachusetts. Hillis-Jaffe was so offended by the anti-Obama
smears being circulated in the Jewish community, that she felt
compelled to respond by making this video. Here are some
excerpts:
Read more about the video, or just watch it, then forward it to all your friends, especially those who still have doubts about Obama!
“Jewish Mother for Obama” is the newest in a growing field of videos from Jewish and Israeli supporters of Senator Barack Obama. Two other excellent videos have been released in the past two weeks.
These videos are profound testaments to the support Obama enjoys within the Jewish community, and to why he deserves that support. Watch them and pass them on!
The Israel Project invites you to join top official
McCain and Obama surrogates for a forum on Israel, the threat of
Iran, and other key issues. You can join in person, listen by
phone, or watch online.
Forums are currently scheduled to occur in New York City; Boston; Chevy Chase, Maryland; Boca Raton; Miami; and Cleveland. The Israel Project is an entirely non-partisan organization whose board of advisers includes prominent federal legislators from both sides of the aisle. This is an excellent opportunity for people who love Israel and care about Jewish issues to hear these issues addressed in a credible forum. For more information or to RSVP (space is limited), visit http://theisraelproject.com/forums. Make sure to pass this along to your undecided friends and relatives!
Vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden gave a rousing
keynote address in support of Israel and Jewish issues at the recent
National Jewish Democratic Council Conference. Here's a brief
excerpt (watch the entire address here):
Biden also spoke strongly about support for Israel during the recent vice-presidential debate (watch it here):

“When 500 rabbis agree on anything, you know something is going on.” That's how Rabbi Steve Bob, co-chair of Rabbis for Obama, describes the significance of the group, which co-chair Rabbi Sam Gordon calls “unprecedented” in the history of American Jewry. Also unprecedented was the recent conference call in which Barack Obama spoke directly with 900 American rabbis. Read more about it here. Here are a couple questions to put to your friends and family who have doubts about Obama:
“If you care about the well-being of Jews and
Israel, by now the incessant Republican attacks on Barack Obama may
have persuaded you to be wary of the Democratic candidate. Parse the
poison, however, and you will see that it is nouvelle racism grafted
to pure unadulterated right-wing bunk.”
So begins the statement in support of Senator Barack Obama by Letty Cottin Pogrebin, whose accomplishments include the founding of Ms. magazine; the founding of the National Women's Political Caucus; and the authorship and publication of many articles and books, including Deborah, Golda, and Me: Being Female and Jewish in America. Read the rest of the statement...
Matthew Leader, a graduate of Yeshiva University,
started the “Zionists for
Barack” blog “for people who are strong supporters
of Israel to share their reasons why they are supporting Barack
Obama for president.”

This week's words of Torah come to us courtesy of Rabbi Yehudah
Prero.
Upon examining the Yom Kippur services, one finds that the services begin with a verse from Tehillim: “Light is sown for the righteous, and for the upright of heart, gladness,” “Or Zarua LaTzadik Ul'Yishrei Lev Simcha.” One might think that an appropriate way to begin the services on the holiest day of the year, the day on which our fate for the coming year is sealed, would be with a message that is more forceful, more powerful. Perhaps the passage that we say elsewhere in the prayers “Repentance, prayer, and charity remove the evil decree!” might be more appropriate. Why was this line selected to begin the prayers? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
